What to do when life does not provide you with that positive push to succeed

MOTIVATION- the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. Seems simple right!? But what do you do when life gives you obstacles, what do you do when your plans fail, what do you do when nothing is going right and it seems easier to quit?

When you start a new journey towards achieving a goal, it is easy to write a list of goals. It is easy to say I want this. However, it can be daunting to say I want to lose 50 pounds and after a few weeks of work you've only lost 5. It is easy to lose focus when you see how long your journey truly can be. This can hold you back; this can keep you from succeeding and deter you from the true positive change you are meant for. How to overcome this? Focus on those small achievements you have made along the way. These small achievements are what enable you to eventually achieve your greater goal.

So how can you overcome the negative aspects of life that can prevent you from success?

1. Expect positive change: When you expect you are going to achieve your goals, when expect great things are going to happen you build the foundation you need to push forward. Expect that you are deserving of these achievements and you will achieve them.

2. Be Positive: I always tell people to be kind to others because you do not know what struggle they truly are facing. Be positive in all aspects of your life. Smile at the people you pass and say hello to the coworkers you encounter in your day. Surround yourself with positive people and when you find yourself in a negative situation or conversation-EXIT! Do not allow others who are spreading negativity to draw you in-always walk away.

3. Positive affirmations: Speak out loud about your beliefs. If you see wrong doing say something. Do not allow others or yourself to be belittled by those that want to bring you down. Find a quote that you can write somewhere and read it every day. That way you start yourself with a positive message and then you start to develop a belief system that will help you conquer negativity and succeed.

4. PLAN. PLAN. PLAN. This is where you will see the most success in all aspects of life. Not only should you schedule in healthy events such as your workout for the day and your meal plan to stay on track. Schedule time for yourself. Do something for you every week. Reward yourself for your success. Develop a weekly plan to achieve your goals. I love the feeling when I cross things off of my To Do List. Revisit your plan and goals daily that way you can keep in perspective what you are trying to achieve.

5. Build a truly supportive team: Surround yourself with positive people who are encouraging and support you in every aspect of your life. Surround yourself with people who will encourage you when necessary but also keep you in check to help you always see your goals. Weed out those that are negative. This sounds easy but is not. It is hard to cut people out of your life but when you start to rid yourself of those negative people you will see yourself flourish.

When life gives you lemons they say make lemonade. When life starts to limit your ability to succeed, push harder. Start by expecting you deserve what you want and go from there. It is easy with how difficult life can be to always remain positive but you truly will see the difference when you rid your life of negativity. When life does not provide you with that positive push for success revisit these elements. Compare your life to what is limiting you and from there make changes. Continue to learn from your mistakes and grow in every aspect of your life.
