Snacks can really get me into trouble. I know I used to snack a lot in the evenings after work and would not even think about what all of those extra calories were doing to all of my hard work during my workouts.

Sometimes we need to eat something and instead of grabbing a candy bar or that bag of chips try one of these healthier options for snacks!

1. Shakeology- Shakeology is a meal replacement shake that has over 70 natural ingredients that also has health benefits. Shakeology has helped me to kick my evening snack craving and what is great is it tastes like dessert.

2. Peanut Butter and an Apple- This is my favorite go to snack. I love apples and when I add a little bit of natural peanut butter I get that sweet craving I need without racking up the calories.

3. Greek yogurt and fresh fruit- Greek yogurt gives you the protein you need without all of the added sugar. But for some people plain Greek yogurt is just that. Try adding some fresh fruit to give you that kick you need to stop your cravings.

4. Rice Cake and Peanut Butter- I love natural peanut butter and I really love brown rice cakes. I know some people think they taste like cardboard but when you add peanut butter you get an added taste that is delicious. Sometimes I will make this as part of my breakfast and cut up a banana to add on top.

5. Raw Veggies and Hummus- For the longest time I would avoid hummus. I didn't think a chick pea could be appetizing BUT I have learned. I love to dip in it with carrots, celery, peppers and almonds.

6. Fresh Trail Mix- I know I love trail mix off the shelf but when I started reading labels I realized that is was a lot of sugar. Instead, I started putting together raw almonds, fresh popped whole grain popcorn and dried fruit. Sweet, salty and good for you.

7. String cheese and almonds- Cheese can be tricky but what is great is if you get a fat free or light string cheese. Add it with a side of almonds and you get a great source of protein and a full belly.

8. Fruit and Nut Butter Wrap- I really love tortillas and I have learned that if you take a small, whole wheat tortilla, spread some nut butter such as peanut or almond butter and cut up fresh fruit it can be a delicious treat.

9. Fresh fruit- I really love cutting up different kinds of fruit and then make a small plate of the different kinds. Hits the spot when I need something sweet.

10. Hard Boiled Eggs- this is an easy go to snack because you can make them ahead of time and save yourself time during the week. Be aware though if you plan on eating more than one skip the yoke because the calories can add up fast.

Hopefully these quick snacks can help you stay on track and make meal planning easier!
